Bill Madden has owned Brookside for over 20 years. He is an owner-breeder of thoroughbred race horses with over 100 wins at different
tracks all over the western United States, including, Del Mar, Golden Gate Fields, Santa Anita and Hollywood Park.
He has also driven harness horses in races at Los Alamitos.
Bill is also a very accomplished outdoorsman as well, backpacking deep into the Sierra Mountains over diverse and demanding terrains.
He is also a certified scuba diver with a vast amount of experience diving all over the western hemisphere.
If that alone isn't enough he has owned several restaurants' over the years.
He is currently owner of
Silky Sullivan's Restaurant & Irish Pub
and the world famous
Quartzsite Yacht Club and of
course don't forget the Brookside Park Cafe and Silky's Back Gate Pub right here at the beautiful Brookside Equestrian Park.
Bills first recommendation is always to stay here at Brookside. We have got it all! An award winning cafe, Silky's Pub which
overlooks the arenas, beautiful R.V spaces on manicured lawns, and a private swimming pool. We will provide feed and shavings delivered right to your stalls.
If you do not have an R.V we can arrange one to be delivered and set up for you upon your arrival. We also have golf carts and bicycles available
to help you navigate the property.
But there are other things to do and see around the area and if there is anyone that can help it is Bill! ...Whenever you are away from home

Brookside is actually located in the Sheldon area and we are so lucky to have so much so close.
Silvas Sheldon Inn
(916) 686-8330 is my favourite and is considered one of the best restaurants in the Sacramento area. The owners, Doug & Barbra are there every night to
assure your dining experience will be memorable.
Fat Mikes Pizza
(916) 686-8543 another locally owned restaurant where Larry, Brian, and Chris will take great care of you. All Mike's pizzas are made with “handfuls” of toppings.
They will also deliver right to your stall for that special barn party.
Berts Diner
(916) 686-6622 is a 50s style cafe that is very good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Berts serves Mexican and American Food with takeout. Don't forget to try the
50's Burger for a taste of nostalgia.
Happy Garden Chinese Cuisine (916) 686-2288 Authentic Chinese food at it's best! Try their Lemon Chicken, you will not be disappointed. Great food and very very reasonably priced. Take out is available too.
The Wrangler (916) 714-9911 This Country Western Bar has
some of the best country music bands in Northern California. Friday or Saturday, you are guaranteed a rocking country night. This bar is Country to the bone!
West Coast Footings (209) 293-2220 is home
to all your horse arena needs! Whether it is horse arena footing additives to enhance the existing or new footing, or grooming equipment to maintain your footing, or watering equipment.
Also in Sheldon is an ACE Hardware store, 2 gas stations Chevron and Circle K, which both have diesel fuel available. Best of all, these places which
Bill recommends are all less than 2 miles from Brookside.
Hotel Accommodations
The Hilton Garden Inn and the Holiday Inn in Elk Grove are the closest. They are located approx 8 miles from Brookside
in a perfect area with wonderful restaurants and movie theaters all within walking distance. They are also pet friendly and serve breakfast,
lunch, and dinner right in the lobby. There is always a special rate for horse show exihibtors.
Services
Tire Repairs: Several exhibitors have had tire problems and we recommend Radial Tire. (phn#) They are right here in Elk Grove
and they will come right out to the Ranch and do tire repair for a nominal charge they have competitive pricing and are fast and professional.
RV Repairs:
On The Spot RV Repairs: (916) 714-2902 is just what the name says. They come out and repair anything in your R.V while you
are out showing your horse.
Boot Repair:
Britton's Shoe Repair: (916) 685-7572 Exhibitors are always needing this service.
Cleaners and Laundry Service:

Florist Services:

Grocery Stores:
Probably the closest is Savemart in Elk Grove at Bond Road and Elk Grove Florin Blvd. They are open from 6am until midnight.
Recreation
In the Sacramento Area there are many adventures waiting for you to enjoy.
River Rafting in Coloma about 45 minutes from Elk Grove.
If golf sounds good we have 3 challenging courses nearby.
Dry Creek golf course is aprox 15 miles away, and is considered one of the top 50 public golf courses in the country green fees are reasonable and the course is mature.
Emerald Lakes is another exceptional course and is only 6 miles from the ranch it is considered an executive course and has 18 holes and mostly 3 and 4 par.
Wild Hawk is relatively a new course and the closest to the ranch only 3 miles and is very challenging.
